Bandura's Social Learning Theory

According to Banduras SLT, we learn from interacting with others in a social context. We observe, assimilate, and imitate others behaviour when witnessing positive or rewarding experiences. Bandura agreed with the behaviourist learning theories of classical conditioning and operant conditioning yet crucially added the following 2 points; Meditating processes take place between the stimuli and response and behaviour is learned through observation of the environment.

There are 3 stages to Banduras:

  • Behaviour Factors

  • Environmental Factors

  • Personal factors e.g. biological events.
